When clutter gets hard.

You're smart.
You're capable.
You are a queen at getting stuff done.

So what is it about an old photograph or a box of papers that can make you freeze?

Maybe there’s more to clutter than meets the eye.

The Untangled Club:
A compassionate guide for the emotional side of decluttering.

There is a lot of wonderful advice out there on how to organize and declutter. But when you’re navigating a major transition in life, your capacity is stretched thin. You may feel like you’re on your last nerve.

And when you’re overwhelmed, even the most practical formula can leave you wanting to scream at the screen: Who has advice for me now?

I understand that feeling. When a smart, capable woman finds herself sitting on the floor in a puddle, undone by an old photograph, she doesn’t need a lecture on sorting or a list of things to do. She needs a compassionate place to pause, catch her breath, and make sense of things—but she still has a job to do: clean out that stuffed closet.

You aren't a weak weirdo for being on the floor right now. You’re just dealing with a lot, and sometimes it’s hard to navigate alone.

When you're in a season of change, it's normal to feel unsettled and maybe even a little like you've lost your way.

The Untangled Club is here for moments like this. Together, we can slow down, find grace in the mess, and make forward progress—one step at a time.

Hi, I'm Sherri.

In a season of uncertain health, I was preparing for retirement, planning a major move, and working through forty years of stuff. More than once, my emotions threatened to derail my downsizing efforts.

But surprisingly, God met me in the ordinary work of decluttering. Little by little, I learned to let go.

I started writing the blog, Clearing the Way, because I realized I wasn't the only one who got bogged down with clutter. I want other women to discover what I learned: You can honor what was while making room for the new.

If that's the season you're in, I'm glad you found your way here.
